I returned to Australia during the COVID pandemic and felt displaced and so isolated. Anxiety, insomnia, fear, pain, the constant sense of being in the wrong direction. But I was also returning to my mother’s house, surrounded by Turkish objects and ceramics, feeling that pull of heritage that is both intimate and distant. This zine holds all of it at once, the grief of being on stolen land, the longing for belonging, the bittersweet weight of love. I wanted it all to weave into each other, the way it does inside me.
